when i call our various printing companies at work for frivolous design matters, i am sometimes put on hold.  i would say most all of the time their hold music is just a step swanker than elevator music.

but today i got gordon lightfoot from one vendor and fleetwood mac's "tell me lies" from another. i thought that was pretty cool.

i could write more, but i feel like i'm pretty much where i was the last time i posted.  lots and lots of ideas and good vibes to do great things, but i gotta get with it.

i have a new celly now - it looks sharper and takes pictures, but don't get excited it's more like a dinosaur in disguise.  no texty.  who needs that anyway?

five more minutes then i'm free!

lovesies,
jen

hi xangans!

little j here - and still scattered as ever! scraps of paper and various small notebooks with ideas of all the things to write, read, sing, play, draw, sew, dispersed in various locations from my purse and work desk to my nightstand drawers. with a cell phone that lingers on one to two bars of battery power, thriving on the car rides from work to my home.

am i a jack of all trades or just kinda messy? i think it's both, but sometimes there's a glorified vision that all these little things are gonna merge together into a completely comprehendable and unified way that's way majestic.  i obviously don't understand human limitations.

lovesies,
jen

here is a fact i discovered today:

we all know pigs invented the phrase "let's pig out" to describe their manner of stuffing their little snouts full of grub.  based on this understanding, i just discovered that dinosaurs invented the saying "let's dine out," meaning they must have actually had sophisticated eating habits.  this has some stunning implications...

don't spoil it for me, i want to be the first to break the news to some scientists!

as ever,
jen

just when i recovered from buying a plane ticket to new york, jens lekman has to play a show in a somewhat close proximity to me!

and i haven't seen him live yet, but i have a feeling that enticing you to go too is the right thing. it's more than right. and girlinthevw, he's gonna be in your backyard on wednesday.

back to the plane ticket... to all my brooklyn buddies, i'll be in town dec. 28th to jan. 2nd. i cannot wait to see you guys, to sleep on your floor and freeze my oklahoma tail feathers off. it should be bliss, and i feel completely assured we'll be well taken care of (adjasont)!

perhaps snoopy's relationship with cats is not very different from my own with birds. hmmm

ooh ooh one last thing, i've got ten minutes to slap this post up so my next statement is valid.

happy birthday intensehilarity! here's a quote specifically for you. "never fear, brooklyn is here!!!"

bye bye

i can't wait for thanksgiving dinner! can you?

so here's the first matter of business for today. i carry around these little moleskin notebooks, they're kinda brown, and i lost one.  i always write my name on the cover or front page, and in one of the corners there's a little number for chronological purposes.

i basically keep them to write down good ideas for all sorts of things, or if i come upon some revelation.  the one i lost is my first one - and it's about 3/4 of the way full.  i think the last completed page says "giraffe dachsund" and has some diagrams i drew beneath it of some weenie dogs with giraffe spots.  if you find this it is mine and you should send it my way.

here are possible places where it could be:
my room
laura's room
actually my house in general
sharlee's place
paul/brine's place
your car?
laura green's/essex apts in general
umm sarah mcwhorter's car/the gately lakehouse?
chicago in general

well okay it's been awhile and i guess it could be anywhere.  this helped last time though when i lost my favorite sweater!  so brine, maybe it's in your back seat again, who knows.

this leads into my second thought for today:

one of my favorite scenes from a peanuts movie is in "A Boy Named Charlie Brown."  It's when Linus gave Charlie his blanket for good luck in the spelling bee, but then goes to NY with snoopy to get it back.  there's the scene where he's finally given up and is sitting in Charlie's room, totally succumbed with withdrawal, and then discovers charlie nonchalantly shining his shoes with it.

that's all, did you guys like those comics i used to put in here?
or do you have a favorite peanuts moment?

Today's Strip
